Story of a Flower

Elated I was as I stood across the threshold of adolescence

entering into college with millions of dreams at its entrance

more excited I was to soon become a senior

so I could harass and rag my pitiable would be juniors.



Time passed and the day arrived

as I stood in the corridor scanning the freshers who were all sleep deprived

I thought to myself how much fun it will be

to tease each one what a pleasure to see



Almost suddenly I laid my eyes on a newie

sitting on the bench with no fear or element of surprise

I had found my guy whom I was to mock

if he would resist I was to give him a sock



I approached him and blatantly called out to him

he seemed to grin and I thought he had a whim

enraged I was to see as this boy paid no heed

I knew what I would give him as a deed



Realizing his mistake he held his head high in mid air without any reason or plan

hah! I could make out as he trembled and his heart beat ran

"tell me what is your dream?" as I mockingly said his words mumbled

and his speech stumbled



I plucked out a dead flower from the garden behind

and I asked him its name wanting more of him to grind

he uttered nothing the silence was killing

abruptly he said dont know the name but it smells good that was enough to give me a chilling



As I realized his eyes which seemed so out of way

the boy was blind if that is what I could say

I heard my voice quiver tears shone so bright

I lost all my ego and with that proud might



As he took out his cane from his worn out bag

I stood dazed no less than a rag

through his eyes I could see

the problem was not with anyone but with me

for all this time I had been blind

I vowed to see the beauty in life and appreciate every second that is mine.......!
